Sibelius Concerto for Violin and Orchestra
at the Allentown Symphony
As we create a work of art or recreate it, each of us trys to capture emotions and impressions in music. Driven by a sense of inspiration and passion for what we do, see that passion culminate in a concert featuring a world premiere by Music Director Diane Wittry, a vivid solo performance by the 2009 Schadt String Competition winner, SoJin Kim, and Mendelssohn’s musical impressions of the landscape of Scotland. Sit back and enjoy as we bring music to life to touch your heart and your soul.

Gypsy Rhythms @ Allentown Symphony
Music is an integral part of every culture in the world. Especially exciting are gypsy rhythms and melodies of Hungary and Eastern Europe. Bartok, Enesco, Kodaly, Stravinsky, and Liszt, all used folk music as the focal point for the pieces featured in this concert. Melodies are woven into the fabric of the music and create the toe-tapping excitement of a folk performance. Joining us for the concert will be Laurence Kaptain on an unusual Hungarian folk instrument similar to the dulcimer, called a “cimbalom.” This is a concert you won’t want to miss!
