After 40 decades, you never know what Three Dog Night will be up to….come and check them out at Penn’s Peak!
Only a band as steadfast as Three Dog Night could still be entertaining audiences and topping the charts a mere four decades later! They continue to perform over 80 dates per year, which has helped them continually expand their fan base. They have embraced the 21st century musical technology with their hits being available on iTunes and on websites such as MySpace, Facebook, iLike and Bebo. Their hits have appeared in all genres including pop, rock and even country. Three Dog Night is legendary; from 1969-1974 no other group had more Top 10 hits, moved more records or sold more concert tickets. In 2009, the band released their first double-A sided single in nearly 25 years. “Heart of Blues” and an a cappella ballad, “Prayer of the Children,” were the 2 hits that are available through many digital retailers and also online at Three Dog Night’s website.
Originally started in 1968 by Danny Hutton and Cory Wells, Three Dog Night has been enormously successful from the beginning. Their name comes from a story about Australian aborigines. When the aborigines were in the outback, they would sleep with their dogs for warmth. On particularly cold nights, they would need more dogs so they coined the term three dog night. The name was a hit from the beginning. The remaining members of the group are Jimmy Greenspoon - the original keyboardist, guitarist Michael Allsup, bassist Paul Kingery and drummer Pat Bautz. Three Dog Night has a history of topping the musical charts; 21 consecutive Top 40 hits, 18 straight Top 20 hits, 11 Top 10 hits, three #1’s and 12 straight RIAA Certified Gold LP’s. Since 1986, Three Dog Night has performed over 2000 shows including two Super Bowls and they have no plans on stopping.
Come to Penn’s Peak and party with the ever-popular Three Dog Night!!
